Am I In Depression ?

When you are facing a tough time in your life, it is normal to feel down for a while, emotions like sadness or loneliness. But when these feelings cause physical symptoms and last for longer periods of time, you might have depression. Depression strikes millions each year with nearly 10% of the population suffering from a depressive disorder at any given time. therefore depression test is needed.

1. An Inability To Feel Pleasure- Anhedonia  

Things that once make you feel happy or give you satisfaction are no longer seem to be enjoyable. You may find yourself numb or not- interested in doing the same things. These sudden changes from extreme happiness to sadness is a sign of depression. 

 

 2. Feeling Hopeless and Helpless

If you have a feeling that nothing will get better and there is nothing you can do to improve your situation, then again it is a major sign of depression. Also, some major events like accidents may bring extreme sadness and hopelessness in your life which requires treatment.

 

3. It’s All Draining 

Sometimes, you have a feeling that ” everything is draining” as your brain undergoes with ‘psychrometer retardation”. It slows down your thought process, makes everyday routine things incredibly draining which causes many symptoms of depression. It’s not your fault, its a part of an illness that requires treatment. 

 

4.Insomnia Or Hypersomnia

If you are feeling tired all the time or find yourself extremely energetic and awake at all hours, then these are the symptoms of Insomnia or Hypersomnia. It leads to a lack of concentration in your daily activities and hence affects both personal and professional life. So, if you have noticed any of these symptoms, do not feel guilty, talk to your doctor, your friends and family. 

 

5. Never Ending Grief Or Misery 

It’s perfectly normal to feel grief and miserable but when it tends to stick around for far longer than normal, then it creates a problem. So, constant emotions of grief and sadness are not good for your health and also it is a symptom of depression. All you need to do is, consult your doctor and describe the full situation.  

Depression varies from person to person, but there are some common signs and symptoms through which you can relate. But understanding the cause, signs, and type of your depression is a must. Only after knowing the fact that you are facing depression, you can take further steps to feel better and overcoming the problem. So, firstly take a self-depression test and then consult your doctor without feeling any guilt or hesitation.
